Lincoln's Christmas Market is based on an idea from Lincoln's German twin town of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse.
Over 20 years ago, a small group of Councillors from Lincoln were visiting Neustadt just prior to Christmas time, and were taken with the few stalls and a children's ride in their traditional town square. It wasn't a lot to get excited about, but it did create a little piece of Christmas magic, and the idea of transferring its potential to Lincoln was seized upon.
