Bailhouse (AA rated 5 star) offers a range of luxury accommodation set in the historic heart of Lincoln, only a few minutes from the Castle and Cathedral.

Our spacious bedrooms, most with king size beds and en-suites, have been sympathetically decorated to complement the architecture and history of the building. Each room has a unique view of the Castle, Cathedral. Gardens or the Bailgate.

Our guests can relax in the well appointed TV lounge with 50" flat screen TV and DVD player, make use of the spacious breakfast room which doubles as a quiet reading room during the day and also contains an internet ready pc and wireless network coverage. The house also benefits from extensive enclosed gardens, with a heated pool (seasonal), barbeque and patio area. A stone chapel (scheduled ancient monument) and a well are can be found in the gardens, along with a large gravel car park covered by CCTV and restricted electric gate access.

History of Bailhouse

Dating from the 14th Century, the house itself has a rich history, starting life as a medieval hall (circa 1350). Large parts of the original beamed roof and low walls have been preserved in one of the bedrooms and the kitchen area. Many additions have been made to the house since then, evolving over 600 years from medieval hall to a residential home which closed in 1999. It had several incarnations as a public house or Inn along the way with former names such as Ermine House, The Blue Bell, The Falcon, The George Inn and The Crown Inn. Purchased by ourselves in 2003, the empty building was tastefully restored preserving all of the original features and replacing many which had been removed during the colourful history of the house.
